Being a Good Employer: Essential Training for Councils
7 May 2024 10:00-12:00 Online
Councils have the power to appoint staff as necessary, and with this power comes the responsibility of being a good employer. The "Being a Good Employer" course is designed to equip council representatives with the knowledge and tools to fulfill their statutory responsibilities effectively and uphold employee rights.
This interactive course is the first step towards understanding the complexities of employment within the council framework. It's not just about compliance; it's about building a foundation for a healthy work environment where both the council and its employees thrive.
Attendees will have the chance to network with Clerks and Councillors from across Northamptonshire, exchanging best practices and innovative ideas. The course covers key areas such as recruitment campaigns, induction checklists, contract types, holiday entitlements, sickness management, grievance and discipline issues, appraisals, and terminating employment.
We strongly recommend that at least one council representative attends to ensure your council is well-prepared to meet its obligations as an employer. Join us to empower your council with the knowledge to be a great employer.
