Course Description

Embark on your journey to becoming the Chair of your council with this course. Designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge, this course will prepare you to effectively chair your council meetings.

This is an interactive course    and offers the opportunity to network with Councillors from Councils across Northamptonshire to share best practice and ideas.

Key areas covered in this course include:

  • Conducting efficient and effective council meetings
  • Managing disruptive Councillors and members of the public
  • Navigating legislation affecting council meetings, including the right for meetings to be recorded without notice
  • Discovering the one secret that will make your meetings better – and shorter!

Danny joined the Association in 2007. He has been a parish councillor since 2003 and has had various roles on committees and working parties as well as Chair to the council.  He achieved Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) in 2008 and is a Principal Member of the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC).
