Planning for Elections

Course Description

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the Parish and Town Council Elections. It covers the entire election process, from the recruitment of candidates to the first council meeting after the elections. Participants will learn about the election timetable, statutory notices, nomination forms, and the nomination process. The course also includes detailed information on what to do before, during, and after polling day, as well as the roles and responsibilities of clerks and councillors. By the end of the course, participants will be well-equipped to manage and participate in the election process effectively.

This is an interactive course    and offers the opportunity to network with Clerks and Councillors from Councils across Northamptonshire to share best practice and ideas.

Marie Reilly 

Training Manager, Northants CALC

Marie joined the Association in 2019. Prior to that, she has worked in Learning and Development since 2014. Marie has been a parish councillor since 2018 and has had various roles on committees and working parties as well as Vice Chair to the council. She achieved Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) in 2020 and is a recognised CiLCA Trainer to the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC).
