New Clerks Finance
This introductory and interactive course is designed for new clerks in their first few months and provides a practical overview of the council finance year, including budgeting, internal controls, audit requirements, and the AGAR process.
By the end of the session, participants will understand the key financial responsibilities of the council, be aware of relevant legislation and guidance, and recognise the importance of sound financial management and internal controls.

Steve is an AAT Licensed Accountant and is a former Town Clerk with 30 years' experience in public and voluntary sector finance. He now specialises in delivering training and advice on VAT and finance matters for the local council sector.
Please note: the course is open to all county associations and will therefore have clerks and councillors not from Northamptonshire in attendance. We hope that this will allow for this course to be delivered more often and throughout the year.
