An Intro to VAT

For clerks, finance staff and councillors from councils that are not VAT registered, but reclaim VAT on Form VAT126.

This course introduces the key VAT principles that apply to local councils, including business and non-business activities, VAT registration, reclaiming VAT, partial exemption, and the treatment of grants and donations.

By the end of the session, participants will understand where to find relevant VAT guidance, when VAT can be reclaimed, when registration is required, and the activities that require particular care and attention.
