How to Develop a Neighbourhood Plan

Course Description

This one-hour session offers a more detailed exploration of the Neighbourhood Planning process, ideal for participants who already have a basic understanding of the concept. The course focuses on the development of planning policies, the use of evidence, and the inclusion of site allocations. It is designed to support those actively involved in creating or contributing to a Neighbourhood Plan.

ONH’s RTPI planners will guide you through the knottiest stages of developing a neighbourhood plan, including:

  • Stakeholder mapping: who should you engage with and how can you engage with them?

  • How to link community ideas to effective policies

  • A detailed look at policy areas: site allocations, future development, heritage, environment and social infrastructure

  • Being a trail blazer how to approach policy ideas that other neighbourhood planning groups haven’t tried before

  • Approaches to the final step: local referendum
