What is Neighbourhood Planning?

Course Description 

This one-hour introductory session provides a clear and accessible overview of Neighbourhood Planning, tailored for individuals with little or no prior experience. The course explains the purpose, process, and potential impact of Neighbourhood Plans, helping participants understand how local communities can shape development in their area.  

ONH’s RTPI planners will introduce you to the key concepts of neighbourhood planning, including:

  • How to decide if a neighbourhood plan is the right option for your parish

  • What kind of neighbourhood plan policies can be included

  • The impact of national planning policy changes on neighbourhood planning

  • Project management of a neighbourhood plan, from start to finish

  • Gathering local views and the legal requirements for consultation on your neighbourhood plan
